Post-Game: Flames chase Wings, manage to win

The Calgary Flames weren’t great on Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings. They didn’t get their first lead until late in the third period and they were chasing for much of the game. But they got three goals from their second power play unit and managed to eke out a 6-4 victory over Detroit.

The Calgary Flames (30-13-5, 65 points) lost on Wednesday night, but they’re still off to one of their best starts in franchise history. They’re hoping to keep their momentum rolling tonight when they host the Detroit Red Wings (18-23-7, 43 points) in the first half of a back-to-back.

Who has been the best fit alongside Tkachuk and Backlund?

Since Elias Lindholm turned out to be a natural fit alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan, the Flames haven’t had any problems with their first line. Their second line, though, has featured a rotating cast of right wingers – one that Michael Frolik seems to have laid a claim to, however long that lasts.
