Council votes to restart arena talks with Flames

The ongoing new arena saga for the Calgary Flames has taken another turn. On Tuesday afternoon Calgary City Council voted to formally re-engage with the Flames on the possibility of building a new arena in Victoria Park.


Flames look to shake up lineup

Coming off of giving up at least four goals in two straight games – the first one a loss, the second one a win – the Flames, before heading out on the road, appear to be experimenting with both their forward and defensive groups.

City committee shows off arena renderings

Calgary City Council’s Event Centre Assessment Committee has been meeting since June. Their mandate is to structure the ongoing discussions between the City and the Calgary Flames related to a potential new home for the hockey club. In Friday’s meeting, the committee presented some renderings of what the new building might look like.


Mike Smith’s vintage mask pays tribute to Flames legend

Calgary Flames goaltender Mike Smith has a reputation for having really fun, colourful masks and goalie gear. He has different masks and equipment for the Flames’ home and road uniforms. With the vintage jerseys back as third jerseys, he had a new mask made to go with that jersey, too.
