Slovakia remains undefeated as Samuel Honzek scores again (and other Day 4 World Junior notes)

After an off-day on Thursday, Calgary Flames prospect Samuel Honzek and Slovakia were back in action at the IIHF World Junior Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden on Friday. And once again, Honzek scored a goal in a Slovakia win.

Honzek watch: How did Slovakia do?

Another game, another Honzek goal.
The Slovaks got goals from Honzek, Juraj Pekarcik, Dalibor Dvorsky (two), Servac Petrovsky (two), Peter Repcik and Luka Radivojevic en route to an 8-4 win over Norway. Norway got goals from Michael Brandsegg-Nygard (two), Stian Solberg and Petter Vesterheim.
Honzek’s stat line for his third World Junior contest were as follows: one goal, one point, a minor penalty for boarding, three shots on goal, plus-1 in 15:19 of time on ice. He was on the ice for two Slovak goals for and zero against.
Slovakia concludes their tournament on Sunday against the United States with the chance to lock up top spot in Group B.

Results at a glance

Finland beat Latvia by a 4-0 score [Group A]: Finland controlled much of this game, and received goals from Jere Lassila, Jesse Pulkkinen, Kasper Halttunen and Oiva Keskinen, and netminder Nova Vali made 23 saves for the win.
United States beat Czechia by a 4-3 score in a shootout [Group B]: This game was as back-and-forth as any has been in this tournament so far. The Americans received goals in regulation from Isaac Howard, Will Smith and Ryan Chesley. Czechia saw Jakub Stancl, Adam Bares and Robin Sapousek score. In the shootout, Gabe Perreault and Howard scored for the USA while Jiri Kulich responded for Czechia.
Sweden beat Canada by a 2-0 score [Group A]: In another close one, Sweden got goals from Tom Willander and Noah Ostlund and generally looked really, really good. Hugo Havelid made 21 stops for the shutout.
