The Predators did what the Predators do well: limited chances against and jumped on mistakes. Calgary grossly outshot Nashville, but only won the chances count by a thin margin. A couple of Flames forwards had good games by this metric (Stempniak and Bourque), but, again, the Flames need more from their first line. Two even strength chances in more than 17 minutes of ice just isn’t good work from Jarome Iginla.
That said, the Flames win this game with better bounces or worse goaltending from Rinne. They had enough quality chances to take the victory, but the puck just didn’t go in. They also limited the Preds to a handful of chances against (and shots), although pretty much every team in the league has done that so far.
