Flames Recall Nemisz

The Calgary Flames have recalled Greg Nemisz from the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Heat this afternoon.  It comes after a heavy night in Los Angeles on Monday, where the team lost Niklas Hagman in the first period and also saw a third period injury to Rene Bourque, who did return and finish the game.

It’s also another recall for the team, but if it’s on an emergency basis (which isn’t clear), it wont’ count against the remaining recalls this season.  The move may very well point to the injury situation of either Hagman or Bourque, the recovery of Daymond Langkow, or it may be just a depth move.

Nemisz is second in team scoring on Abbotsford with 14 goals and 32 points.  He was Calgary’s first round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Great effort by the Oilers tonight. Looks like all those early round picks are rounding into form really well. They’ll probably do just as well next year and the year after and the year after and the year after.

Right, because we are only going to have Hall, Eberle, Omark, Paarjvai, and a bunch of other young guys for at least 6 more years as the majority of them are in there first year of a ELC. By that point the Oilers will be both ultra competitive and have a new arena so attracting free agents wont be nearly as difficult, meanwhile the Flames will be depending on 40 year players like Iginla and Kipper to take them to the top.

Nice. Just an unrelated question – aside from our obvious must win game tomorrow, there’s another that impacts us. The Dallas/Anaheim game: who do we want to win? Does it really matter since they’re tied? I guess the better question is, who has a better chance of falling out of the race?

I can’t believe all these comments on the oilers .Looking outside the box ,as i am a fan of neither, the oilers at least have some hope for the future but the flames have no future. Zero prospects no draft picks and an old team thats maxed on the cap .Keep dreaming its all you got.
