Sign a free agent FW that can score. I bet Maroon is moved to the 4th line and ends up working well there.

      • Spoils

uniformly panned so I must be on to something.

I just don’t think Maroon or Kassian will hold up as well as the rest of you kool aid drinkers think.

I also think there is a ton of value to having Yak play up.

A veteran that can score would be welcome help to a young team that struggled to score last year. and welcome competition, IMO… and we have the cap space for a 1 or 2 year deal…

So what’s your lineup and thinking behind it?

        • The Last Big Bear

Any Oilers roster suggestion is going to get panned.

Because when you see it on paper, you go “my god, that’s awful, surely there must be a less-awful way of putting these pieces together.”

          But there isn’t.

That’s part of why they’re awful.

For the 2015/2016 season, the “dismal” Calgary forwards (along with a pretty good defence core) scored 229 goals while the mightly Oilers scored 199 goals with their multi first picks. Anything else intelligent to say Train?

          • MontanaMan

I’ll take the opportunity to educate you Train as I’ve read your comments for two years and clearly you need some guidance. The game is played as a five man unit in all three zones, the defensive zone, the neutral zone and the offensive or attacking end. Yes the forwards contribute the majority of the goals but the defence are key contributors in the offensive end. And despite your painful, ongoing comments about the Flames defence, the defensive zone requires all six players on the ice (including the goaltender) to keep pucks out of the net. Now that I’ve educated you, hopefully we’ll see less uneducated comments from you.

          • detox

any Canadian team’s roster is likely to be panned by opposing fan bases, if not their own, as they all missed the playoffs last season and it doesn’t matter what the roster looks like on paper…

as it is right now, every Canadian team has something to prove beyond their respective fan bases saying the other team is worse off.

no need to crow if you think your team is headed in the right direction, crow when they get there.

the, my team stinks less than yours, banter is really depressing.

Have the Oilers done enough to change the losing culture of the team and finally start moving out of cellar of league ? Most of their offensive thrust seems reliant on a very young offense in McDavid , Draisaitl , Puljujarvi , and to a lesser extent a young Yakupov and Hopkins . Defence much the same story of reliance on youth to a great extent . At what point do they finally pull together as a team /group ?

    Khaira= hendricks-Kassian
3 legit scoring lines. Can Calgary do that?

    Fixed it for you!

    • Spoils

fourth line is a tire fire.

and I sincerely hope Maroon is as good as everyone thinks. Not sure I like the idea of developing Draisaitl and Yak together. Not sure I like assuming Pulj is NHL 2nd line ready.

That’s why I think the Oilers should go get a free agent FW. competition is a really good thing. we have the cap space.

  • Cool Story, Brodie!!!

Oilers fans have lost the will to fight it out on the open forum. Just like their team has lost the will to fight out of the basement. I can’t wait for the day mcdavid gets traded for Julius Honka.

  • #12MorrisLukowich

Edmonton & Calgary (Vancouver is completely out of the picture and rapidly descending) move over (Edmonton doesn’t have to move very far since Calgary’s fallen back asleep)…there’s a new, legitimate threat in the west…and that city populated both you Albertan rivals…JETS!

As Jack Nicholson was once said…”Wait’ll they get a load of me…”

    • MontanaMan

Winnipeg has it’s fair share of holes in the lineup but I like their skill level, their youth and mostly their strong defence. The Jets will be a contender before the Flames, Canucks and Oilers.
