Report: Travis Hamonic underwent surgery for facial injury

Rasmus Andersson may be around for awhile. During the first intermission of Tuesday’s Sportsnet Calgary Flames telecast, analyst Eric Francis shared some news regarding Travis Hamonic’s injury.
Long story short, the update wasn’t overly positive. Per Francis, Hamonic has undergone surgery to insert plates into his face – to presumably aid in the healing – and he won’t be able to engage in physical activity for at least a week. Francis estimated that it would be between 3-5 weeks before Hamonic would be able to return wearing a protective facial shield.
Forgive the pun, but it’s a bad break for Hamonic and a big opportunity for Andersson to prove that he can be an everyday NHL player.
