A look at the Flames regular season stats leaders

The 2019-20 regular season has been completed, friends, with the Calgary Flames posting a 36-27-7 record over 70 games. The statistics for the regular season have been locked down, so let’s take a look at the club’s leaders.

Games Played

Noah Hanifin, Rasmus Andersson, Johnny Gaudreau, Mikael Backlund, Elias Lindholm and Sean Monahan each played in all 70 games. It’s the second season in a row where Gaudreau has had a share of the lead; he was the only Flame to play in all 82 games in 2018-19.

David Rittich played 48 games in net, leading Flames goalies for a second season in a row.

Goals

Lindholm scored 29 goals, leading the Flames. It’s the first time since 2013-14 that a player other than Gaudreau or Monahan led in that category. Gaudreau led in 2018-19 (36) and 2015-16 (30). Monahan led in 2017-18 (31), 2016-17 (27) and 2014-15 (31).

Lindholm also led in game winning goals with eight, making him the fourth different team leader in the past four seasons (following Backlund, Monahan and Gaudreau).

Assists

Gaudreau had 40 assists to lead the team. It’s the fifth season in a row that he’s led in this category. (Sharing is caring for Gaudreau.)

Points

Matthew Tkachuk had 61 points to lead the Flames, snapping Gaudreau’s stretch of four seasons in a row leading in this category.

Penalty minutes

Tkachuk led in this category, to, with 74 penalty minutes. He previously led this category as a rookie in 2016-17. This is the first time since 1997-98, when Theo Fleury did it, that a Flames player led the club in both points and penalty minutes.

Time on ice

Hanifin playd 1,482 minutes this season, leading the Flames and snapping Mark Giordano’s two season stranglehold. Even if you ignore Giordano’s injury, Hanifin played more in each game as well.

Wins

Finally, Rittich had 24 wins and led the Flames in that category for the second season in a row. He had twice as many wins as Cam Talbot.
