One night after the 4 Nations Face-Off began with a heck of a tilt between Canada and Sweden, the spotlight now shifts to another pair of nations starting their tournaments: the United States and Finland. Can these two clubs live up to the standard set on Wednesday night? (Probably not, but we’re excited to see them try.)
Tonight’s broadcast begins at 6 p.m. MT on Sportsnet.

United States

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff
Kyle Connor [81] – Jack Eichel [9] – Matthew Tkachuk [19]
Jake Guentzel [59] – Auston Matthews [34] – Jack Hughes [86]
Brady Tkachuk [7] – J.T. Miller [10] – Matt Boldy [12]
Brock Nelson [29] – Vincent Trocheck [16] – Dylan Larkin [21]
Zach Werenski [8] – Charlie McAvoy [25]
Jaccob Slavin [74] – Adam Fox [23]
Noah Hanifin [15] – Brock Faber [14]
Connor Hellebuyck [37] starts in net for the Americans, backed up by one of Jake Oettinger [30] or Jeremy Swayman [1]. The projected extras are Jake Sanderson and Chris Kreider.
The Americans, on paper, have a heck of a roster. They have high-end players up and down their roster. Can the guys lower down the rotation settle into their roles? If they can: look out, because this group could be extremely, extremely dangerous on the ice.

Finland

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Artturi Lehkonen [62] – Aleksander Barkov [16] – Mikko Rantanen [96]
Roope Hintz [24] – Sebastian Aho [20] – Patrik Laine [92]
Eetu Luustarinen [27] – Anton Lundell [15] – Mikael Granlund [64]
Teuvo Teravainen [86] – Erik Haula [56] – Joel Armia [40]
Niko Mikkola [77] – Esa Lindell [23]
Urho Vaakanainen [18]] – Nikolas Matinpalo [33]
Olli Maatta [3] – Henri Jokiharju [10]
Juuse Saros [74] is expected to start in net, backed up by one of Kevin Lankinen [32] or Ukka-Pekka Luukkonen [1]. Their projected extras are Juuso Valimaki and Kaapo Kakko.
Y’know how the Americans are stacked and have players playing lower in the lineup than they’re used to? Well, Finland is arguably the opposite. They have a lot of guys who are probably going to be playing more than they’re used to on their NHL clubs… especially on the blueline. If Finland can figure out how to play within their system, they might be okay. But otherwise, it could be a long week for them.
