A Brief History of Bennett and McDavid

Tonight’s a historic night, in that the highest-selected Calgary Flames pick in history, Sam Bennett, faces off against childhood friend and 2015 first overall pick Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers.
The dynamic duo grew up together back in Ontario.
Tonight’s contest will be the fourth time the two players have faced off on a major stage.
Here’s a look at their previous three meetings.
GAME BY GAME
Bennett’s second OHL game against Erie. It was a 6-5 Kingston win in overtime on September 28, 2012. McDavid and Bennett each had an assist.
They next met on February 24, 2013. Once again, Kingston was victorious, this time by a 6-3 score. Sam Bennett had 2 goals and 2 assists, including the game-winning goal, while Connor McDavid had 2 assists and a minus-3 rating.
Their most recent meeting to-date was December 8, 2013. This time, the Erie Otters tuned up Kingston by a 7-2 score. Despite this scoring disparity, Sam Bennett had a pair of assists while McDavid had a single goal.
HEAD TO HEAD
In the three games, Bennett’s team has won twice – though Kingston’s lone loss to Erie was a butt-whuppin’.
In games they’ve played against each other, Bennett has 2 goals and 5 assists, while McDavid has a goal and 3 assists.
Not to say that they’re going to light it up tonight necessarily, but they have a history of rising to the occasion when playing against each other.
