<p><a href="https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/video/hours-brad-treliving-believing-flames-core-group-players/">Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving joined Scott Oake and Cassie Campbell-Pascall</a> on After Hours after the Flames&#8217; 9-1 win over Arizona on Saturday night. As you would expect, the fans who submitted questions to After Hours about pending free agent Johnny Gaudreau, the team&#8217;s top scorer.</p>
<p>Specifically, Treliving was asked whether he would regret not locking down Gaudreau earlier.</p>

<blockquote><p>Well, you don&#8217;t regret anything. We made a comment at the beginning of the year, we weren&#8217;t going to talk about his contract publicly &#8211; Johnny, myself and his representative Lewis Gross &#8211; and we&#8217;ve kept things quiet on that front. That by no means should be taken as any indication that we [don&#8217;t] want him back. We want him back here. We&#8217;re going to move heaven and earth, and do everything we possibly can to get Johnny back here.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve seen it tonight, you&#8217;ve seen it throughout the season. He&#8217;s a top player. Not only what he&#8217;s done productivity and with the puck this year, but what he&#8217;s done without it. I remember when Darryl [Sutter] came in last year and the screams were &#8216;well Johnny can&#8217;t play for Darryl&#8217; and I remember chuckling. Because anybody that knows johnny, he thrives under a coach that&#8217;ll push him. He has his whole career. Both those guys, him and Matthew [Tkachuk] and Andrew [Mangiapane] and Oliver [Kylington]&#8230; the list goes on, we&#8217;ve got a lot of work to do.</p>
<p>But obviously Johnny being unrestricted, we&#8217;re going to do everything we humanly possibly can to have him be back here and be a Flame for a long, long time.</p></blockquote>
<p>Gaudreau can become an unrestricted free agent on July 13. The Flames are back in action on Monday night when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks.</p>
