When the Calgary Flames drafted defenseman Adam Fox in the third round of last June’s NHL Draft, you could reasonably say that expectations were high. A product of the U.S. National Development Team, he had just set the program’s single season scoring record for a blueliner. Would Fox be able to translate such impressive play to the college ranks?
The answer, so far, has been an emphatic “yes.”
Fox was yesterday named the ECAC Hockey Media Association’s Rookie of the Year, voted on by the members of the media that cover the conference. He was also a unanimous selection to the media All-Rookie Team and the media All-Star Team. Not bad for his first season with the Harvard Crimson. Through 30 regular season and conference playoff games to date, Fox leads all ECAC defenders with 34 points. Fox was also nominated for the Rookie of the Year award given out at the end of the season by the conference itself.
Harvard plays Quinnipiac in the conference semi-final later tonight.
