It should be a tight match-up in Ottawa as both teams are similar to each other in skill level. At the time of writing who is starting for the Flames in net is unknown, but being on a back-to-back and on the road should see Ottawa as the favourites. Calgary should be able to find some shots in the middle of the ice, but their top dogs are struggling. Watch out for Tim Stützle – he’s the real deal.

Primary Bet – Andrew Mangiapane to get over 1.5 shots on goal (-200)

A $1 bet pays out $1.50 – Nothing flashy but for a guy that gets constant 5v5 minutes with power play time this is a slap for me. The less events that have to occur per bet the better in my opinion

Secondary Bet – Calgary Flames +2.5 on the puckline (-400)

A $1 bet pays out $1.25 – This may be my lowest recommended odds all year – and maybe ever – but i just don’t feel good about the Flames staying in this one. The puckline here gives them a 2 goal leeway to lose, basically it’s empty net insurance.

Tertiary Bet – Total Goals under 7.5 (-225)

A $1 bet pays out $1.44 – This is Dustin Wolf insurance because if he starts i fully believe the Flames will surrender 2 goals or less. The defence needs to be a bit more structured, but his athleticism covers most of the worry of the defence being porous.
