Forty-eight hours after their victory in Nashville, the Calgary Flames (2-1-0, 4 points) are continuing their road trip when they visit the St. Louis Blues (0-1-1, 1 point). Can the Flames put a bit of daylight between themselves at the .500 mark, or will the Blues send them crashing back down towards it?
The action starts at 6 p.m. MT on Sportsnet Flames (with Rick Ball and Kelly Hrudey) and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

The Flames

Projected lines, via Daily Faceoff:
Gaudreau – Monahan – Lindholm
Tkachuk – Backlund – Czarnik
Bennett – Dube – Neal
Frolik – Ryan
– Peluso
Giordano – Brodie
Hanifin – Stone

Valimaki – Andersson
Mike Smith starts for the fourth time this season after pitching a 42 save shutout in Nashville. He’s backed up by David Rittich, who presumably will play on Saturday night in Denver. Dalton Prout, Garnet Hathaway and Mark Jankowski are the healthy scratches. Dillon Dube missed practice yesterday as a precaution after blocking a shot against Nashville and is a game-time decision (Jankowski will slot in if he can’t play).
Six different Flames have generated a point-per-game of offense or more over the past three games: Johnny Gaudreau (7 points), Matthew Tkachuk (6), Sean Monahan (5), Elias Lindholm (4), TJ Brodie and Mark Giordano (3). Much of that production has come via the power play. The depth players haven’t done much yet, though.

The Blues

Projected lines, via Daily Faceoff:
Maroon – O’Reilly – Tarasenko
Schwartz – Schenn – Perron
Steen – Bozak – Kyrou
Barbashev – Thomas – Blais
Edmundson – Pietrangelo
Bouwmeester – Parayko
Jerabek – Bortuzzo
Jake Allen starts, backed up by former Flames backup Chad Johnson. The healthy scratches look to be Vince Dunn, Jordan Schmaltz and Chris Thorburn.
The Blues have been idle since Saturday. They’ve given up five goals in each of the first two games, so they’ll probably be trying to limit their chances against given how many have ended up behind their goaltender so far.
