The Calgary Flames will be looking to end their current four-game road trip on a winning note when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday as narrow -120 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary is coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, and has now fallen to defeat in seven of eight outings going into Wednesday’s game at KeyBank Center.

Flames at Sabres | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Flames’ offensive attack has misfired with regularity during their current swoon, with the team tumbling to 30th in the NHL in goals scored per game while averaging a mere 1.25 goals per game over the past eight contests. Calgary has fallen out of the playoff picture during its slide, nine points back of the first-place Edmonton Oilers in the Pacific Division, and has been soundly punished on the Stanley Cup odds, where they now lag at a distant +3300.
However, there has been a silver lining for bettors during the Flames’ prolonged slump. With scoring at a minimum, the OVER has paid regularly in totals betting, going 7-0-1 in Calgary’s past eight outings. The Flames could also benefit from the offensive struggles that the Sabres take into Wednesday night’s contest.
Fresh off a lopsided 5-2 loss in Tampa Bay as +200 underdogs on Monday night, the Sabres return home pegged as +100 home underdogs. Buffalo has buried the memory of its fast 9-2-1 start, falling to defeat in 10 of its past 12 contests, including losses in five of six home dates.
Like Calgary, the Sabres have struggled badly on offence, averaging just 2.21 goals per game over their past 14 overall contests, and have potted two or more goals just twice in their past six home dates.
Not surprisingly, the Sabres have given back all the earlier gains they made on the NHL futures at online sports betting sites during their fast start, tumbling to a distant +2500 wager to win the Atlantic Division, and to +5000 on the Stanley Cup odds. Things get no easier for the Sabres against the Flames, who surrendered just two total goals while recording wins in each of their past two visits to Western New York.
