Flames Deadline Scuttlebutt: Wideman trolling media, Wotherspoon speculation

A couple quick notes here as the deadline creeps slowly towards us on a slow, slow morning for Calgary Flames news. We got the scoop on a prank, as well as Tyler Wotherspoon perhaps making a move back to the bigs.
First and foremost, the Calgary Flames have apparently executed a beautiful troll job on the media. With attention on the team sky-high after the trade of Curtis Glencross yesterday – precipitated by Bob Hartley answering his cell phone on the ice, the Flames coach apparently has collaborated with Dennis Wideman on a bit of a rib on the hockey media.
The TSN panel immediately noted Wideman had not been traded and concluded that the Flames must be messing with the media. Hartley is renowned locally for his press scrum zingers. As for Wideman…
Well-played, Flames. Well-played.
In other news, the recently-demoted Tyler Wotherspoon was absent from Adirondack Flames practice this morning in Glens Falls.
In a subsequent tweet, Nearhos noted that Philadelphia’s a drive away from Glens Falls, so perhaps Wotherspoon’s demotion was a paper transaction so he maintains AHL playoff eligibility. Either that or a move is pending, though given that Wotherspoon is Calgary’s lone NHL-ready defensive prospect, that’s doubtful.
