In advance of Friday afternoon’s Calgary Wranglers game – and in the aftermath of Thursday’s Calgary Flames season finale – the Flames have made a trio of roster moves.
The club has re-assigned defenceman Hunter Brzustewicz and forward Sam Morton to the Wranglers and placed forward Dryden Hunt on waivers. The roster assignments were announced by the club, while Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on the waiver placement.

Hunt’s waiver placement is an administrative hurdle to clear before he, too, can be returned to the Wranglers. Hunt was on the NHL roster for more than 30 days since last clearing waivers, so he has to go through the process. The 29-year-old winger has split this season between the Flames and the Wranglers. In the NHL, he had three points over five games and served as their 13th forward for a good chunk of the season. In the AHL, he had 48 points over 48 games. He had two assists in the finale against Los Angeles.
Brzustewicz (20) and Morton (24) both made their NHL debuts on Thursday night in the Flames’ 5-1 win over the Kings after being called up for the first time on Wednesday. Morton even scored his first NHL goal in the game. Both are in the midst of their first pro seasons. Brzustewicz has 31 points in 69 games with the Wranglers. Morton has 45 points in 69 games games with the same club. Both had adjusted fairly well to playing full-time pro and have become really reliable pieces for the Wranglers.
The Wranglers close out their regular season on Sunday afternoon when they host the San Jose Barracuda.
