Flames Swap Goalies: Ortio Up, Thiessen Down

The morning of a big Pacific Division collision, the Calgary Flames have made a roster move.
The club announced this morning that Joni Ortio has been recalled from the Adirondack Flames of the AHL, presumably on an emergency basis. Brad Thiessen has been returned to the Baby Flames.
Ortio has been Calgary’s undisputed number-three netminder this season, and presumably will be with the big club this season. But with Karri Ramo out for an indeterminate amount of time, the club has seemingly decided to go with a known quantity as back-up rather than Thiessen. The native of Turku, Finland has a 20-12-1 record with a 2.64 goals against average and .914 save percentage this season in the AHL, along with a 4-1-0 with a 1.98 goals against average and .931 save percentage.
Ortio recently returned to the ice after being out since before the trade deadline with a high ankle sprain.
