The Calgary Flames provided an update on Tuesday evening on their ongoing investigation into Bill Peters conduct. The update was a simple one: Peters won’t coach the Flames on Wednesday night in Buffalo, and associate coach Geoff Ward will run the bench instead.
Should the Flames part ways with Peters, Ward may be the front-runner for a promotion. The 57-year-old has been a fixture behind benches at various levels since 1989. In addition to assistant gigs at various levels (including NHL stops in Boston, New Jersey and Calgary), he’s been the head coach for the MWJHL’s Waterloo Siskins, OHL’s Kitchener Rangers and Guelph Storm, ECHL’s Arkansas RiverBlades, Germany’s EC Bad Nauheim, Iserlohn Roosters and Adler Mannheim, and the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs. He won a Stanley Cup during his time in Boston.
We’ll have more on this story as it continues to develop.
