The Western Hockey League unveiled its conference all-star teams on Monday and a prominent local hockey star was featured. Calgary Hitmen captain Mark Kastelic was named to the Eastern Conference’s Second All-Star Team.
Playing his overage season for the Hitmen, Kastelic was their most consistently engaged and offensively potent player. He was the leader for the Hitmen in most offensive categories, and his potency saw him appear on the league-wide leaderboard as well.
Kastelic was…
  • 22nd in the WHL in points with 68
  • 7th in the WHL in goals with 38
  • 20th in the WHL in penalty minutes with 83
  • Tied for 19th in the WHL in plus/minus with +30
In short, he was everything you would hope an overage forward would be for a club.
A fifth round selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 2019 NHL Draft, Kastelic will go pro next season. The general expectation is that he’ll sign with the Senators and spend the next while with the AHL’s Belleville Senators.
