An offensive outburst in the second period of Friday night’s game against the Arizona Coyotes has led to a pair of milestones for Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau. Gaudreau put a wrist shot past Coyotes goaltender Karel Vejmelka after an outlet pass from Nikita Zadorov sent him and Blake Coleman in on an offensive zone rush.
Gaudreau’s goal was his 30th of the season and 200th of his NHL career.
  • He’s the Flames’ fourth 30 goal scorer of this season, following Andrew Mangiapane, Elias Lindholm and (earlier in the period) Matthew Tkachuk.
  • He’s the Flames’ 10th 200 goal scorer in franchise history, following Jarome Iginla, Theo Fleury, Joe Nieuwendyk, Gary Roberts, Kent Nilsson, Lanny McDonald, Al MacInnis, Sean Monahan and Eric Vail.
  • It’s the third time in Gaudreau’s NHL career that he’s reached 30 goals in a season: he’s previously done it in 2015-16 (30) and 2018-19 (36).
The Flames lead the Coyotes 3-0 midway through the second period.
