Kylington and Ollas Mattsson To Represent Sweden At 4 Nations Cup

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association has announced their roster for the upcoming 4 Nations Cup in late August. And to nobody’s shock or amazement, that roster contains two Calgary Flames draft picks on its blueline.
2015 second round selection Oliver Kylington and 2014 sixth round selection Adam Ollas Mattsson will represent their country in the event. The under-20 tournament features Sweden against Finland, the Czech Republic and Russia and runs from August 25-30 in Dmitrov, Russia. It’s traditionally used by those countries as a method of selecting a World Junior team. (There’s another 4 Nations Cup tournament in November in Finland featuring the same four countries.)
Kylington continues his whirlwind year, as he’s been to and from Europe multiple times this summer. He’ll be in Russia for this event, then hustle back to North America to prepare for Flames rookie camp in early September. It’s still yet to be determined if he’ll play for the Flames, Stockton Heat or Brandon Wheat Kings next season.
Ollas Mattsson is set to rejoin Djurgardens for another season on the back end. The SHL season begins on September 16. He’s also on his club’s Champions League roster for this season. The U20 tournament happens to overlap two of his team’s four opening-round Champions League games, so he’ll miss a bit of club hockey in favour of pursuing a shot at the World Junior roster. He didn’t make the Swedish team last year. He’s an July 1996 birthday, so he’s just barely 19 years old and will be one of the youngest players in the SHL next season.
Kylington and Ollas Mattsson didn’t play for Sweden at USA Hockey’s mini-tournament in Lake Placid earlier this month, though fellow Flames prospect Rasmus Andersson did.
