The Calgary Flames will be trying to bounce back from their first home loss of the season when they close out a two-game series with the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday as narrow -105 home underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary saw a two-game win streak to open its home schedule come to an end in Sunday afternoon’s 3-2 loss to Toronto, which dumped the team’s record to 2-1-1 going into Tuesday night’s matchup at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Flames spotted their opponents the opening goal for a second straight game in Sunday’s series opener, but were unable to rebound the way they had in back-to-back wins over Vancouver to open their home schedule. In addition to falling behind an opponent by multiple goals for the first time this season, the Flames continued to struggle at even strength.
With Matthew Tkachuk’s power play marker in the third period of Sunday’s loss the Flames have now seen six of the 10 goals they’ve scored in their past three games come on the power play. That could be a problem against Toronto, which has surrendered just three power play opportunities over their past three outings.
However, with Jacob Markstrom earning his lucrative new contract in the Calgary net, the Flames have been effective at shutting down opposing shooters. The Flames have limited opponents to just nine total goals over their first four games, tops in the all-Canadian North Division. But the club needs to continue working on a way to rewrite a losing narrative against the Maple Leafs, who have now claimed victory in three of their last four visits to the Saddledome according to the OddsShark NHL Database. Toronto has been equally effective at containing the Flames during that stretch, limiting Calgary to just nine total goals.
Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs will be looking to win three in a row for the first time in 17 overall games since last February. Overall, Toronto has gone 5-2-0 in its first seven contests to claim a share of first place in the North Division. A stingy defense that has allowed just 10 total goals over their past five games has been key to the team’s success. However, an absence of secondary scoring could soon emerge as a concern. Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and John Tavares have accounted for over half the team’s scoring, with the trio tallying just three total points in Toronto’s two losses to date.
