Calgary’s scoring woes also extend to the team’s recent clashes with Toronto. Jack Campbell is coming off another stellar performance in Toronto’s 2-1 shootout win over the Jets on Friday night. The 29-year-old has now given up just 11 total goals while racking up an unblemished 8-0-0 record on the season. Campbell, though, will be watching from the bench on Sunday as the Maple Leafs are expected to give the start to Michael Hutchinson.
However, the silver lining for the Flames is their strong defensive play when facing Toronto this season. While the team surrendered seven total goals in a pair of losses at Scotiabank Arena back in January, they have been much steadier in four subsequent home meetings, picking up a pair of wins while outscoring the Maple Leafs by a narrow 8-7 overall margin.
