NHL reportedly will hold the draft after the playoffs

3 years agoThe National Hockey League appears to be prepared to hold the entry draft at the conclusion of the playoffs.
According to HockeyGraphs’ Shayna Goldman, the draft will include the seven teams that didn’t qualify for the 24-team playoff format and the eight teams eliminated in the qualifying round.
The Athletic’s Corey Masisak compounded the report adding that he’s heard the draft will be held following the playoffs.
The NHLPA voted in favour of the 24-team format over the weekend, however, the league still has lots of work to do to make a return to play happen.
The league, however, released their phased return to play protocol yesterday releasing some of those details.
Gary Bettman is expected to speak at 4:30 p.m. EST in regards to the return to play format.
