The Calgary Flames will be trying to rebound from their first regulation loss in 10 games when they welcome the Pittsburgh Penguins to town on Tuesday as opening -120 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary saw a seven-game win streak halted on Saturday with a 4-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes but remains just two points out of first place in the Pacific Division standings going into Tuesday night’s matchup at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

In addition to snapping their longest win streak of the season, Saturday’s loss to Carolina as a +100 wager at online betting sites also marked the end of the Flames’ highest-scoring stretch of the season. Calgary averaged four goals per game during its 7-0 run, and had seen the OVER go 4-0-1 in its five previous games prior to its loss to the Hurricanes.
The Flames have been prone to streakiness this season, scoring more than two goals on just one occasion over the eight games prior to their recent surge, and have earned the win in just eight of the 25 games in which they have scored three or fewer goals.
Regaining their offensive touch will be particularly crucial for Calgary against the Penguins, who open a four-game Western swing on Tuesday night. Pittsburgh hits the road after escaping with a 5-4 shootout victory over the Los Angeles Kings in a contest they led by two goals with just eight minutes left in the third period.
The Penguins’ win over the Kings as heavy -200 home chalk came on the heels of a strong five-game stretch during which they surrendered just seven total goals and posted shutout victories over St. Louis, Arizona, and Columbus.
Thanks to the strong play of the goaltending tandem of Tristan Jarry and Matt Murray the Penguins have emerged as one of the top defensive teams in the NHL, sporting a team goals-against average of 2.70. However, Pittsburgh has struggled badly on the road, with the team’s lone victory in their past six dates away from PPG Paints Arena coming against the Detroit Red Wings, a 5-3 victory on December 7.
The Penguins have also posted just one win in their last four visits to Calgary, dominating in a 9-1 victory as a -105 wager in their last road date with the Flames back in October 2018.
