Hoping to grow off their split squad showdowns with the Vancouver Canucks on Monday, the Calgary Flames are back in exhibition action tonight at the Scotiabank Saddledome. This evening they host a smattering of NHL bodies from the San Jose Sharks, plus several baby Sharks.
The puck drops at 7 p.m. MT and you can catch the action on Sportsnet 960 The Fan (with Wills, Loubardias and Steinberg) or on the Flames social media channels via web stream. Or come down to the ‘Dome – good seats still available!

The Flames

Here are the project lines for this evening from our media pals:
Gaudreau – Monahan – Dube
Lucic – Ryan – Phillips
Rieder – Froese – Quine
Pospisil – Ruzicka – Rinaldo
Giordano – Andersson
MacDonald – Stone
Nielsen – Yelesin
Jon Gillies and Artyom Zagidulin are the goalies. Since Zagidulin went the distance in Victoria, Gillies will get the full 60 minutes in net this evening.

The Sharks

Here’s who San Jose brought with them to town:
  • Goalies Aaron Dell and Antoine Bibeau
  • Defenders Brenden Dillon, Dalton Prout, Mario Ferraro, Tony Sund, Nick DeSimone, Tim Heed and Keaton Middleton
  • Forwards Dylan Gambrella, Evander Kane, Barclay Goodrow, Lean Bergmann, Joel Kellman, Tomas Hertl, Lukas Radil, Sasha Chmelevski, Evan Wiederer, Alexander True, Evan Weinger, Ivan Chekhovich and Jayden Halbgewachs
We’ll have lines and pairings for the Sharks as they become available.

What to watch

Dube gets a plum opportunity to play on a line with the two best offensive forwards on the Flames roster. Beyond that, and the Giordano/Andersson duo, it’s a very AHL-located Calgary group. Can some of the lesser lights impress enough to stick around for awhile longer? Keep an eye on Yelesin, who plays a smash-mouth style and looked very solid in his prospect game appearances.
