Preseason Gameday Update – September 21st

As the Calgary Flames get set for the Vancouver Canucks in a split squad affair tonight, here’s what we can tell you.  I think everybody gets the concept now, one game in Calgary (7 pm, FAN 960 and Sportsnet Flames) and one game in Vancouver (8 pm).  But we can also give you a little more as to what you’ll see, specifically at the Dome this evening.
First off, lines and pairings will look like this for the Flames:
Tanguay-Jokinen-Iginla
Glencross-Moss-Kotalik
Ivanans-Backlund-Chucko
Nemisz-Armstrong-Cameron
Regehr-White
Pelech-Bouwmeester
Negrin-Meyers
Miikka Kiprusoff will probably play two periods while Lelald Irving should get a period in as well.
As for Vancouver, here’s their lineup:
Tambellini-Perrault-Hansen
Glass-Bolduc-Schroeder
Volpatti-Bliznak-Morin
Hordichuk-Rosa-Anthony
Ballard-Baumgartner
O’Brien-Ramsay
Zimmerman-Alberts
Weiman
Lack
So, not the most star studded lineup for the Vancouver Canucks, which is to be expected.  I think it would be a disappointing if the Flames were to lose this game, seeing as how the NHL experience is heavily slanted their way.
What to watch? The top line, obviously, as the trio of Tanguay, Jokinen and Iginla will get their first chance to show us what they’re all about in game action.  Matt Pelech plays with Bouwmeester, and for a guy in Pelech who’s trying to crack the roster, this should be an interesting first preseason game for him.  And our first look at David Moss down the middle, which should be intriguing.
