The Calgary Flames beat the Vancouver Canucks by a 7-4 score on Saturday night. Here are selected reactions from players and coaches following the game.
“I thought they were little more direct, got pucks to the net and got rewarded. I thought the Monahan unit was very dangerous but bounced back, gave up a tough one on the shorthanded goal, right? And instead of sitting there and sulking, I thought they dug in and got to work and got us back in the game.” – Flames head coach Bill Peters on the difference between the Flames’ power play on Saturday and Wednesday.
“Three things there were real big. We were resilient after 40 coming back down one. You’ve got to win the third period in this league in order to get points. We were resilient on the power play when it got waved off. I understand the call. I get it, I watch it and I see what they see. It could’ve gone either way, but I get the call. But still to still score on that ensuing time that’s left on that power play is huge. And Smitty’s save when it was 5-4, that glove save is huge. So those three things stood out for me.” – Peters on his team’s resiliency in the victory.
“Obviously the way we played the last game, we don’t want to play like that. We want to play better. We have a group in here that expects from ourselves to play better as well. I thought we stayed with it today. A lot of penalties, played good in the third and got the win. It was a good night.” – Flames forward Elias Lindholm summing up the victory.
