The Calgary Flames will be looking to begin 2020 by shaking off a losing skid as they play host to the New York Rangers on Thursday night as -175 betting favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary fell 5-3 at home to the Chicago Blackhawks in its last outing of 2019 on Tuesday night as a -180 betting favourite, dropping to 2-6 in its past eight games overall. That was also the second straight OVER result in Flames games for bettors on the NHL totals.

Rangers at Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report

Sam Bennett, Michael Frolik, and Sean Monahan had the goals for the Flames in Tuesday’s losing cause, which saw the team unable to contain Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane who picked up two goals and two assists on the night. David Rittich allowed four goals on 32 shots in the defeat, putting his record at 17-10-5 with a .912 save percentage on the season.
The Rangers are also coming off a loss, falling 7-5 in a wild game at Edmonton on Tuesday night as +115 underdogs at online betting sites. The Oilers led 6-1 after two periods in that contest, with New York putting up four goals in the third period but unable to completely close the gap on the scoreboard. Alexandar Georgiev allowed all six Edmonton goals on the night, with Henrik Lundqvist stopping all six shots he faced in late relief between the pipes.
Artemi Panarin picked up a goal and three assists against the Oilers on Tuesday night, with New York now 3-5 over its last eight games. The OVER easily paid out in Edmonton for totals bettors, and the OVER/UNDER is now 8-0-1 in the last nine games for the Rangers.
The Flames are just 3-7 in their last 10 games against the Rangers dating back to December 2014, according to the OddsShark NHL Database, but Calgary did manage to beat New York in both of their meetings last season. Puck drop for Thursday night is set for 9:00pm ET.
