Amidst at least one positive COVID-19 test on the Vancouver Canucks, multiple outlets are reporting that Wednesday night’s Calgary Flames game in Vancouver is being postponed.
From the NHL’s release:
The National Hockey League announced today that, as a result of two Vancouver Canucks Players (including one Player who was added to the COVID Protocol List after it was released at 5:00 p.m. ET today) as well as a member of their coaching staff entering the NHL’s COVID Protocols, the team’s game tonight against the Calgary Flames will be postponed. The decision was made by the League’s, NHLPA’s and Club’s medical groups. The League will provide a further update tomorrow.
Vancouver forward Adam Gaudette was placed in the COVID-19 protocol after a positive test result on Tuesday (from a test conducted on Monday; generally the turnaround for non-expedited tests is 24 hours or so).
The league announcement of the postponement came about a half-hour after the Canucks test results came in, which is a pretty quick turnaround for such a decision.
The Flames are scheduled to play next on Friday in Edmonton, then Sunday and Monday at home against Toronto.
The Canucks are scheduled to play on Saturday in Edmonton, then Sunday and Tuesday in Winnipeg.
The two clubs are next scheduled to play each other on Apr. 8 and 10 in Calgary.
