The Calgary Flames faced the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. A homegrown Flames prospect hit a big milestone as Sam Bennett earned his 100th NHL point.
The fourth overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, Bennett was the Flames’ highest-ever draft selection. He’s been a full-time pro since the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs. After wobbling between center and the left wing during his first few seasons, he’s seemingly found a pretty good niche for himself as a rugged middle-six winger who can play either side of the ice.
His 100 points are split between 48 goals and 52 points and came in his 275th NHL game. He has six goals and 11 points as of the first period of Thursday’s game.
