The Calgary Flames can push Dallas to the brink of elimination with a win on Sunday as they battle the Stars in Game 4 of their Western Conference first-round series as +105 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary has once again failed to emerge as a betting favourite despite blanking Dallas 2-0 in Game 3 on Friday night, a win that gave the team a 2-1 series lead going into Sunday afternoon’s matchup at Rogers Place.

The Flames took full advantage of their opportunities in Friday’s victory as slim -105 underdogs at online sports betting sites. The team opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal courtesy of Mikael Backlund in the second period, and T.J. Brodie sealed the win with his first of the playoffs midway through the third period.
Calgary managed to maintain its narrow lead despite being outshot by a wide 27-12 margin over the final two periods of Friday’s contest. Once again, goaltender Cam Talbot stood tall in the Calgary crease, turning aside all 35 shots he faced. And in addition to Backlund’s goal, the Flames penalty kill turned in a steady performance, killing off four Dallas power plays.
In addition to once again giving the Flames the lead in the series, Friday’s victory also marked Calgary’s fourth win in six meetings with the Stars. The team has consistently shut down the Stars’ attack in recent meetings, surrendering just 13 total goals during their current 4-2-0 run, and limiting Dallas to two or fewer goals in 12 of 17 meetings since December 2015.
And while the Flames may be getting little respect on the game betting lines, they have once again gained significant ground on the NHL playoff series prices in the wake of Friday’s win, vaulting to short -240 favourites to eventually finish off Dallas.
Now with their back against the wall as they prepare to hit the ice for Game 4 as modest -125 favourites, the Stars will be desperate to put an end to a lengthy dismal run during which they have recorded just two victories in 12 outings since February 25.
The Stars have been shut out on four occasions during that stretch, and outscored by a 36-21 margin. Injuries have also emerged as a concern.
A trio of defencemen top the scoring stats in Dallas, as the team’s veteran forwards remain quiet. Tyler Seguin has been a non-factor since returning from injury during the Western Conference round robin. Seguin has yet to record a point in these playoffs, while Alex Radulov, Jamie Benn, and Joe Pavelski have all been limited to two points each.
