Stockton Heat Open Inaugural Training Camp
By Ryan Pike
8 years agoAfter the big round of cuts up at the National Hockey League camp, the Calgary Flames’ brand-new American League affiliate the Stockton Heat open their first-ever training camp today. And they’ve helpfully passed along their camp roster!
In camp in Stockton:
Goalies Jon Gillies, Eric Hartzell (try-out) and Kent Simpson
Defensemen Ryan Constant (try-out), Ryan Culkin, Taylor Doherty (try-out), Aaron Johnson, Keegan Kanzig, Oliver Kylington, Kenney Morrison, Patrick Sieloff and Dustin Stevenson
Forwards Kenny Agostino, Bill Arnold, Rob Bordson (try-out), Austin Carroll, Turner Elson, Kyle Flanagan (try-out), Dana Fraser (try-out), Derek Grant, Mitchell Heard, Garet Hunt (try-out), Michael Kirkpatrick, Morgan Klimchuk, Ryan Lomberg, Louick Marcotte, Emile Poirier, Blair Riley, Hunter Smith, Garrett Thompson (try-out) and Bryce van Brabant
Players making their pro debuts for Ryan Huska’s club this season include reigning NCAA championship MVP Jon Gillies, 2015 pick Oliver Kylington, 2013 first rounder Morgan Klimchuk and Memorial Cup champion Hunter Smith. Add in a few returning players from Flames camp and the Heat could be a pretty deep team this season.
The Heat open their season on October 10 at Stockton Arena.
