The City of Stockton and the Heat have signed a one-year contract extension, recordnet.com reports.
The team has extended their current lease at Stockton Arena for an additional year, running through the 2020-21 season.
Negotiations have been ongoing for a multi-year lease, the recordnet reports.
Just days ago, reports surfaced that the Flames were examining options of moving the AHL franchise to Colorado Springs where they could play out of Broadmoor World Arena.
FlamesNation’s Ryan Pike wrote his about potential travel times:
Flying call-ups from Stockton is a bit of an adventure. The drive from Stockton to San Francisco’s airport is an hour and a half, followed by a three hour flight to Calgary. Colorado Springs is just as much of a haul to Denver’s airport, but Denver’s more centrally-located relative to the rest of the NHL’s cities and so travel could be a tad easier for call-ups.
