5 years agoThe Government of Alberta, Calgary Flames Foundation and Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation are teaming up on a unique initiative.Flames and Oilers fans will soon be able to represent their team via license plates.
Available from Service Alberta beginning Nov. 19, the plates will cost $75 apiece. A $20 fee will go to the province, while the remaining $55 will go to either the Flames Foundation or the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (depending on which plate you select). Regular plate registration fees also apply.
The new initiative was announced at a press conference at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday afternoon, mere hours before the Flames hosted the Oilers in the first Battle of Alberta game of the season.
At the press conference, Service Alberta minister Brian Malkinson had one request as the Battle of Alberta expands to Alberta roads: “Be nice out there.”
