Tons To Watch Tonight

There is a lot of good, important, Flames-related hockey you can watch tonight.
To help you inform your choices, here’s a quick and dirty guide for you!

THE NHL

The Flames play the Minnesota Wild at 6pm MT. It’s on Sportsnet West. It’s an important game because the big club is vying for a playoff spot, but is in a position now where they need wins against teams like Minnesota, Winnipeg and Los Angeles down the stretch to make it.

THE AHL

The Adirondack Flames are hoping to make the playoffs in their only year of existence before being whisked away to Stockton next season. They play the Rockford Ice Hogs, the awesomely-named Chicago Blackhawks farm team, tonight at 5pm MT. It’s on AHL Live. The Baby Flames are two points out of a playoff spot, but have two games in hand.

THE OHL

The Oshawa Generals, best team in their conference, are expected to steam-roll over Peterborough in the first round. Hunter Smith plays for them. If you get Sportsnet Pacific, Ontario or East, you can watch Game 1 at 5:30 pm MT.

FROZEN FOUR

Boston University, home of both Brandon Hickey of the Flames and Jack Eichel (soon to be of a terrible NHL team), opens up their NCAA tournament against Yale. It’s on TSN2 beginning at noon MT.

THE WHL

Last but not least, the Calgary Hitmen open their playoffs against Sam Reinhart and the Kootenay Ice tonight. Keegan Kanzig will be there, doing Kanzig things. You can either head down to the ‘Dome for a 7pm MT start, or flip over to Shaw TV to check it out from the confines of your own home.
