The third day of round robin competition at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships featured just a pair of games, as the event seemingly took a deep breath to prepare for a busy next few days. In those two games, traditional powers the United States and Sweden crushed their opposition.
Samuel Honzek and Slovakia were idle.

Results at a glance

The United States beat Switzerland by an 11-3 score [Group B]: The good news for the Swiss is that they got on the board after being shut out by Slovakia on Wednesday. That concludes the good news for them, as the Americans put up 11 on ’em. The USA got goals from Will Smith, Jimmy Snuggerud (three), Zeev Buium, Gavin Brindley (two), Ryan Leonard, Isaac Howard, Quinn Finley and Eric Pohlkamp. Switzerland’s goals came from Gregory Weber, Gael Christe and Thierry Schild.
Sweden beat Germany by a 5-0 score [Group A]: Germany got a big win over Finland on Wednesday. Sweden, however, is no Finland, and they were ready for the Germans. Sweden received goals from Otto Stenberg (three), Mattias Havelid and Noah Ostlund, and netminder Melker Thelin made 15 saves for the win.
