The Flames are out of a playoff spot; the Wild are in. The only effect on the standings there is to be regards the Flames’ lottery odds, which the players on the ice probably don’t care about.
It will be the NHL debut for three Flames prospects, though, and that means plenty. In addition to that, there are a handful of seasonal and personal milestones still within reach. Some more likely than others, but reaching them could help add a silver lining to what has, ultimately, been a dismal season.

Seasonal milestones

  • Mikael Backlund is four points from a 50-point season.
  • Sam Bennett is two goals away from a 20-goal season, and four points away from 40 points.
  • Joe Colborne is one goal away from a 20-goal season.
  • Micheal Ferland is three points away from a 20-point season.
  • Johnny Gaudreau is two assists away from a 50-assist season, and two points away from an 80-point season. A point tonight guarantees he finishes as a point-per-game player.
  • Sean Monahan is three goals away from a 30-goal season, and four assists away from 40.
  • Matt Stajan is three points away from a 20-point season.
  • T.J. Brodie is one assist away from a 40-assist season, and five points away from 50.
  • Mark Giordano is four goals away from a 25-goal season, and four points away from a 60-point season.

Career milestones

  • Sam Bennett is three points away from 40 in his career.
