WHL Sked Released – See Flames Kids Live

The Western Hockey League, home of the Calgary Hitmen (owned by the Flames) released its 2014-15 regular season schedule this morning. Because the Flames have many drafted players currently in the ‘Dub, we now know when we’ll have the chance to see prospects play live!
And depending on the results of this weekend’s NHL Draft, there will probably be more names added to this list on Monday.
KEEGAN KANZIG
Kanzig’s a 1995 birthday and cannot play in the AHL next season. He’s also not yet a WHL overager, so the Victoria Royals probably won’t wanna get rid of him yet. Victoria visits Calgary on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, January 17.
ERIC ROY
Roy’s a 1994 birthday, which means he is eligible for the AHL and is also a WHL overager. He’s one of five 1994 birthdays that Brandon had to end the season (one is Ryan Pulock, who’ll turn pro) and so the Wheaties have decisions to make. There’s a chance Roy gets moved. For now, plan on seeing the Wheat Kings on Saturday October 12 and Sunday January 11.
MORGAN KLIMCHUK
Liked seeing Klimchuk with the Abbotsford Heat? Well, he won’t be back in the AHL ’til the end of the season (at the earliest), as he’s a 1995 birthday like Kanzig. He’ll be back with the Regina Pats (unless he makes the Flames, which he will not). They visit on Sunday October 19 and Sunday, January 18.

Based on the released schedules for the Flames and Hitmen, we now have the annual solution to having too many extended family members around at Christmas – hockey. Whether you sneak out or bring a bunch of kids with you to give the other adults a break, hockey is the answer to what ails you. Here’s what’s on tap.
- December 27 (Saturday): Flames host the Edmonton Oilers
- December 28 (Sunday): Hitmen host the Kootenay Ice
- December 29 (Monday): Flames host the Los Angeles Kings
- December 30 (Tuesday): Hitmen host the Lethbridge Hurricanes
- December 31 (Wednesday): Flames host the Edmonton Oilers…again
- January 1 (Thursday): Annual Mac’s Midget Tournament Final
- January 2 (Friday): Flames host the New York Islanders
And the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship is December 26 to January 5 in Toronto and Montreal, so games will be on TV here in prime-time.
Plan your excuses accordingly.
