We’ve got more reasons why Johnny Gaudreau is better than Connor McDavid with the facts and science to back it up.
A few months ago, I wrote about all the reasons why Gaudreau is better than McDavid. Based on the math, he was nine times better. You can’t argue with math. Since then, more things have come to light and Gaudreau has continued to prove why he’s better than McDavid, so here is part two.

On the last article, some commenters raised good points:
  • User @Greg noted that “Gaudreau” only requires two syllables to say, while “McDavid” requires three. This shows that Gaudreau is nicer on the play-by-play folks as they can say his name in a shorter amount of time and therefore do their jobs more efficiently. The same cannot be said for selfish Connor McDavid. Gaudreau gets a point for his name.
  • Another user who goes by @burnward brought up the point about how, yeah, McDavid may have lots of speed and skill, but that only discourages his teammates as they realize they will never catch up to him. Gaudreau realized this early in life and made the conscious decision to remain 5’7” so as to not allow this to happen. By remaining short, he lifts his teammates as they see what is possible from someone they would otherwise disregard. Thank you @burnward for this excellent point of showing how Gaudreau is much more considerate of his teammates’ feelings, unlike egocentric McDavid. He gets another point.
On Jan. 13, Gaudreau recorded his 69th point of the season. That same day, McDavid skipped the Oilers Skills Competition because he was “sick” after many people purchased tickets to see him. However, someone took a picture of him driving a car that day. If he was truly sick, how was he able to drive? Not only did he lie about being sick to avoid being there for his fans because he hates them, but if he was truly sick, he’s out there driving while on cold medicine, meaning he’s a risk factor on the road, not only to himself but to others. Yet another instance of McDavid not thinking of others so we’ve got to give a point to Gaudreau here.
We’ve seen on several occasions Gaudreau supporting other sports team (Calgary Stampeders, Philadelphia Eagles). When have we ever seen McDavid supporting other sports teams? Just another instance of McDavid not thinking of anyone except himself, we need to give another point to Gaudreau here.
Many times when Gaudreau is fed on a breakaway, he doesn’t score. This may be frustrating to some Flames fans, but this is completely on purpose. We see that McDavid scores a majority of the time on his breakaways. And you want to know why that is? It’s because Gaudreau doesn’t want to embarrass the opposing goaltender by scoring on him, so he uses a typical move, going five-hole, which many goaltenders anticipate from Gaudreau. He deliberately does this because he feels empathy, something McDavid lacks. Got to give a point to Gaudreau here.
Gaudreau has a small build and has somewhat of a baby-face. Like user @burnward pointed out, he made the conscious decision early on, not only to lift his future teammates up, but so he could also easily pass as a child when going out to dinner. This means that he could pass as young enough for a kids menu, saving his teammates money at dinner. This is just another instance of Gaudreau being a team player, so he gets another point.
We all know that Gaudreau’s family searches his name on Twitter and like almost anything positive with his name included. Where is McDavid’s family name searching him on Twitter? Gaudreau is a family man, so he gets another point.
Walmarts in Calgary have been selling fast out of purple Gatorade ever since Gaudreau has been seen giving his linemates purple Gatorade on the bench after they score. Well, at least that’s what one person said to me on Twitter about one particular Walmart in Calgary, so we have to assume that’s for every single Walmart. This is an example of Gaudreau supporting local businesses because he cares about the economy, which in turn affects this country’s GDP. Unlike McDavid, who probably wants this country to continue to have deficits. Have any companies sold out of a product that McDavid uses? I don’t know, probably Sucking Ass Hair Gel or something. Another point to Gaudreau.
We’ll give McDavid a fighting chance here since he clearly needs it, but with that purple Gatorade, it’s clear that Gaudreau doesn’t let his linemates have water on the bench. Let’s assume that McDavid lets his linemates have water on the bench, for his sake, so we will give him a point for hydration.
Skip The Dishes have also agreed that Gaudreau is better.
Have any companies come out and said that they think McDavid is better? It doesn’t look like it. Gaudreau gets another point.
Twitter user @lenofi made a great point about their size difference:
After doing some research for myself on this matter, not only does McDavid leave a larger carbon footprint and is literally directly responsible for climate change, but in turn, he also creates more air pollution because he’s bigger. Per Live Science, “Extra pounds translate into extra fuel in automobiles and airplanes. Extra fuel means increased energy usage, oil drilling, and air pollution.”
Not only that, but wealthier people also produce more carbon pollution. McDavid, who is paid millions more than Gaudreau, is also directly responsible for carbon pollution. Per Vox, “The variables that most predict carbon footprint are ‘per capita living space, energy used for household appliances, meat consumption, car use, and vacation travel.’ And wealthy people — even those who self-identify as green — consume more and do more of all those things.” What does air-polluting McDavid have to say for himself?

Conclusion

Based on my math, Gaudreau beat McDavid 10-1, so he’s literally 10 times better. If we add it up from part one where Gaudreau beat him 9-1, that’s 19-2, meaning Gaudreau is 9.5 times better than McDavid. It’s basic science and data and if you argue against this, then congratulation, you’re anti-science.
