There was a scary incident on Tuesday.
Late in the first period, the puck ramped off Jordan Kyrou’s stick and hit Dylan Holloway in the neck. He finished the shift, but on the bench, it was clear things weren’t right and he needed a stretcher. Thankfully, Holloway is okay according to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli.
Holloway was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the 2020 draft. After a successful postseason, he was offer sheeted by the Blues, along with defenceman Philp Broberg (who is out for a few weeks due to injury). Both players departed for the Blues, a pretty big loss for the Oilers.
Since joining the Blues, Holloway has scored four goals and six points in 13 games and is a +2. It’s unclear when he’ll return, but thankfully it seems like everything will be okay.

Ryan Poehling was placed on Injured Reserve by the Flyers

On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported by Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco that Philadelphia Flyers forward Ryan Poehling was placed on the Injured Reserve.
Poehling was selected in the first round by the Montréal Canadiens in 2017. After playing parts of three seasons with the Canadiens, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins where he spent a season. Before the 2023-24 season, he signed a contract with the Flyers and scored a career-high 11 goals and 28 points in 77 games.
So far in 2024-25, the left-shot centre has no goals but five assists through 12 games as the Flyers are off to a Metropolitan Division-worst 4-8-1 start to their season.

Macklin Celebrini returned for the Sharks on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the first overall pick from the 2024 draft, Macklin Celebrini, returned to the San Jose Sharks lineup for the first time since the season opener.
In 17:06 minutes of ice time, Celebrini didn’t get a point but picked up his first penalty as a professional. It’s hard to criticize his game, considering he’s been off for a month and is only 18 years old. So far this season, the centre has one goal and two points in two games.
There are a lot of expectations placed on Celebrini’s shoulders, as the 18-year-old won the Hobey Baker Award last season for Boston University, scoring 32 goals and 64 points in 38 games.

Tyler Johnson signs one-year deal with the Bruins

On Monday afternoon, the Boston Bruins announced they signed forward Tyler Johnson to a one-year deal worth $775,000.
Johnson went undrafted and signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning. In his first full season in 2013-14, he scored 24 goals and 50 points in 82 games, followed by a career year where he scored 29 goals and 72 points. His last great season came in 2018-19, where he had another 29 goals season, but his play declined from there. That doesn’t matter though, as he won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021.
The past three seasons for Johnson was spent with the Chicago Blackhawks, scoring 12 goals and 32 points in 56 games in 2022-23, along with 17 goals and 31 points in 67 games last season.
