The Calgary Flames provincial rivals also made a deal, while a fellow seller in the Pacific Division decided to make a trade as well. Moreover, teams in the Central Division are in the midst of an arm race with a single team making two big moves.

<h2>Edmonton Oilers have traded their 2024 first-round pick for Adam Henrique</h2>
The first trade domino to fall on Wednesday, the Oilers sent their 2024 first-round pick and a conditional fifth-round pick to the Anaheim Ducks for Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick, both with 50% of their contracts retained. Moreover, the Oilers sent a 2025 conditional fourth-round pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning to retain 25% of Henrique’s contract, with the Lightning sending back reserve netminder Ty Taylor.

It’s a large, complicated deal, but at the end of the day, the Flames’ provincial rival got better. Both Carrick and Henrique are in the top 10 for penalty kill ice time leaders for forwards in the league. Both are centres and are strong on the face-off, while Henrique is having a career-year, scoring 13 goals and 42 points and is on pace for 57 points.
<h2>Seattle traded Alexander Wennberg to the New York Rangers </h2>
There was another move from a Pacific Division team on Wednesday, as the Seattle Kraken sent third-line centre Alexander Wennberg to the New York Rangers in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fourth-round pick.

This is by no means a massive move, as Wennberg has nine goals and 25 points in 60 games this season. Back in 2016-17, Wennberg scored 13 goals and 59 points, and had a 17 goal season back in 2020-21.
The trade will help shore up New York’s middle, as third-line centre Filip Chytil is out for the season.
<h2>Colorado made a two big moves on Wednesday</h2>
The first move the Colorado Avalanche made was moving defenceman Bowen Byram to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Casey Mittelstadt. This season, Mittelstadt has 14 goals and 47 points in 62 games, and led the team in the former category. As for Byram, injuries have hampered his development leading to him needing a change of scenery.

Less than an hour later, the Avalanche traded centre Ryan Johansen who has a $4 million cap hit, along with a conditional 2025 first-round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for right-shot defenceman Sean Walker as well as a 2026 fifth-round pick.

<h2>Nick Seeler extended by the Philadelphia Flyers</h2>
Speaking of the Philadelphia Flyers, through all the madness, they extended a different player who was a trade candidate. They signed Nick Seeler to a four-year deal with a cap hit of $2.7 million.
