<p>On Tuesday’s episode of Barn Burner, Boomer, Pinder, and Rhett gave their thoughts on Ryan Leslie&#8217;s comments during <a href="https://flamesnation.ca/news/calgary-flames-post-game-flames-winning-streak-devoured-by-the-kraken">Monday&#8217;s 4-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken</a> surrounding Noah Hanifin.</p>

<p>This comes on the back of the <a href="https://flamesnation.ca/news/barn-burner-the-complications-of-trading-noah-hanifin-featuring-frank-seravalli">complications Flames GM Craig Conroy has had in trading Hanifin</a>, which the fellas had Frank Seravalli on to provide some clarity on during Monday&#8217;s show.</p>
<p>Now, this isn&#8217;t the first time the club have taken a shot at keeping Noah Hanifin on their roster as <a href="https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/noah-hanifin-was-close-on-7-5m-aav-with-calgary-flames-may-be-dealt-with-extension-in-place-1.2042653">Pierre LeBrun reported that the Flames offered the pending UFA a contract in the range of eight-years, $60 million back in October</a>.</p>
<p>During the segment, Pinder weighed in on the two options the Flames have as we sit just days away from Friday&#8217;s NHL Trade Deadline.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;An example [of a trade] would be a very late-first, a B prospect, and a duster like a number seven [defenceman]. Are you better off committing to the next eight years at eight million – I imagine his number has gone up with a career year – I do agree that he&#8217;s worth that. But I think for this team and this part of the life cycle, it doesn&#8217;t get you any closer to the cup.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>While Rhett agreed with Pinder on the direction the Flames should be heading, he provided some light on how the recent success of youngsters cracking the lineup could build a solid foundation.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t agree with [signing Hanifin]. The only thing I would be hopeful on is the kids you have brought up this year have performed admirably. If you can get a couple more of those&#8230; There&#8217;s worse things to have than Hanifin, Andersson, and Weegar.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Boomer would go against the grain and is thinking more long term if the two parties were able to strike up a deal before Friday.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;It doesn&#8217;t stop one of the young players that you now have from evolving and becoming a top four or a top pairing [defenceman]. It doesn&#8217;t stop you drafting someone&#8230; I just don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s that bad to try&#8230; You&#8217;re also not signing Hanifin for eight years thinking only about next year. It&#8217;s an eight year deal. You&#8217;re thinking this is a guy who for the next eight years will be worth somewhere in the neigbourhood of this money&#8230; and he&#8217;ll fit somewhere in this top four.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Hanifin will travel with the team down south for a Florida swing against the Lightning and Panthers, both teams that have expressed interest in the Flames defenceman. Whether he will finish the trip with the team remains to be seen.</p>
