The Flames lost a heartbreaker in Vegas in overtime on Thursday night. Colorado walloped Winnipeg on Friday night by a 5-1 score. The Flames are in a perpetual win one, lose one pattern, while Colorado has won four in a row. The Flames are mostly healthy, Colorado is missing a bunch of guys – and important ones, too, such as Cale Makar, Gabriel Landeskog and Pavel Francouz.
The Avalanche are 5-1-2 since the start of February, while the Flames are 3-3-3 in that span.
Primary Bet – Flames to win Moneyline – (+100)
A $1 bet would pay out $2.00. The Avalanche are playing the back half of a back-to-back (with travel). The Flames are rested, and in the midst of a never-ending win one, lose one alternation of results. Since the Flames lost last game, they’re due for a win, right?
Right?
Secondary Bet – Mikael Backlund (or Tyler Toffoli) 1+ points – (-150)
A $1 bet pays out $1.66. In the last 21 games, dating back to Jan. 1 of this year, Backlund has 22 points (and he’s registered points in 16 of 21 games). In the same span, Toffoli has 21 points (and has registered points in 13 of 21 games). Neither guy is necessarily automatic, but both are your best bets for productive players on the road team. We’d lean slightly towards Backlund, as he has points in more games but fewer multi-point outings.
Tertiary Bet – Artturi Lehkonen anytime goalscorer – (+200)
A $1 bet pays out $3. I always try to throw in a value proposition, and this seems like a good one. Lehkonen plays a lot in key situations, and scores quite often. Compared to some of Colorado’s other big guns like Nathan MacKinnon (-125), Mikko Rantanen (+105) and Valeri Nichushkin (+162), Lehkonen seems like the best value for your betting dollar.
