The Flames head back on the road after a pretty successful homestand that saw them win four of five games. They’re facing a Columbus team that’s been pretty porous defensively and has had a tendency of string losses together of late.
The X-factors for the Flames: Jacob Markstrom’s return to the net, and Matthew Phillips’ season debut after a stellar start in the AHL with the Wranglers. Are either major factors in the game?

Primary Bet – Total goals UNDER 4.5 (+350)
Columbus hasn’t been great offensively lately. Markstrom’s back in net, and you have to believe his teammates will be doing whatever they can to minimize high-danger chances and make life easy on him as he tries to get his swagger back. The recipe seems to be in place for a low-scoring game.
Secondary bet – Mikael Backlund anytime goalscorer (+250)
Backlund’s line with Adam Ruzicka and Blake Coleman – the BAM (Blake, Adam, Mikael) Line, as coined by Shane on Twitter – has been the club’s most reliable, consistent line. They minimize chances and generate a bunch offensively. Backlund seems due for a goal and he’s been getting a lot of good looks.
Tertiary Bet – Johnny Gaudreau anytime goalscorer (+175)
The hockey gods are fickle and enjoy a good narrative, and Gaudreau scoring a goal in his first-ever game against the Flames would make for some nice additional drama.
