To my surprise when checking the NHL standings I saw the Devils were not in a playoff position. So i was really intrigued as to what is going on with them because with the Hughes brothers, Hischier, Meier, etc. they seem like they’d be comfortably in a position of playoff power. After looking at the heatmaps they certainly look like a wagon – so I’m scared for Calgary. Dan Vladar is going to have a massive test because the Devils are going to find all sorts of offence, the Flames need to hope the New Jersey goaltending remains subpar.

Primary Bet – First goal of game New Jersey Devils (-130)
A $1 bet pays out $1.76 – 65% of all Flames games this year the other team has scored first. That’s 17 times out of 26 and of all the teams that could do it again the high-flying offence that the Devils employ should be able to.
Secondary Bet – MacKenzie Weegar to get 1+ points (+120)
A $1 bet pays out $2.20 – Normally I’ve been picking Kadri here but I can’t do that for every game so I’m going with the Flames hottest offensive option off the back-end. Weegar gets tons of ice time and has shown adequate ability to jump in on the attack.
Tertiary Bet – Total Shots on Goal Over 59.5 (-118)
A $1 bet pays out $1.86 – I used to like this line a lot for Calgary but they’ve been having some mid 20’s shot nights lately. They do tend to be able to block a fair amount of shots. This is more about New Jersey’s offensive ability than it is Calgary’s though.
