The Islanders success is found in one area of their game – Ilya Sorokin. The islanders have let in 31 (going on 32) goals *under* expected this season. Trotz may be gone but the goaltender has developed into an all-world player at his position. Calgary’s struggles are scoring so this is a match made in 2-1 heaven. In the new NHL scoring is up though and any top end player can go off, but I don’t get the sense in that happening. If Varlamov starts change all this and go Flames moneyline.

Primary Bet – New York Islanders Puckline +1.5 (+425)
If the Islanders lose by one goal, or win, you win this bet. Calgary can’t stop playing one goal games and on home ice i think they win. If the Flames fall short you still win. Only way you lose is if Calgary wins by 2+ goals. Bet that at your own risk.
Secondary Bet – Total Shots on goal UNDER 62.5 (-125)
We are going under because the Islanders suck at getting shots on goal. Calgary is good at perimeter shots but they are going to have to get to the kitchen to make some ravioli tonight. Calgary limits chances well enough I feel strongly about this one.
Tertiary Bet – CGY Flames to get 1+ power play goals (-125)
Tight games can be decided by special teams. Calgary is not only due for a special teams spark it might be the only way they get more than one past the Islanders goaltender. Now Varlamov is a possibility because the Islanders played Edmonton last night – that just ups the occurrence of this happening.
