The Calgary Flames will be trying to maintain a torrid scoring pace that has powered them to wins in four of their past six games when they host the Boston Bruins on Friday as +130 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary’s offence has rediscovered its touch in recent outings, averaging 5.17 goals per game in the past six contests ahead of Friday night’s matchup at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Bruins at Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Flames’ recent offensive outburst marks a dramatic turnaround for the team. Calgary shooters have struggled to find the back of the net with consistency all season long, and had scored more than twice in a game in just four of 11 contests prior to the team’s current 4-2-0 run. The newfound offensive flair has paid dividends for bettors taking the OVER on the totals, which has prevailed in six straight outings and in 10 of Calgary’s past 12 games according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
But while the Flames impressed with a 6-4 win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks as -185 chalk last time out, they still have work to do to overcome their recent dismal play on home ice. Monday’s win put the brakes on a five-game home losing streak during which the Flames potted just 14 total goals, and marked just their fourth win in 14 home outings while scoring just 2.79 goals per game during that stretch.
That is a run the Flames will be desperate to halt as they prepare to face the Bruins. Boston is coming off a narrow 2-1 overtime victory in Edmonton as -185 chalk at sports betting sites on Wednesday night to improve to 10-1-0 over its past 11 contests.
The Bruins have dominated defensively during their climb to the top of the NHL standings, surrendering just 1.27 goals per game over their past 11 outings, and have been dominant on the road, limiting opponents to just one goal on five occasions during a 5-1-0 run away from TD Garden.
Boston has also held the upper hand in recent dates with the Flames, posting wins in five of seven overall meetings since December 2015, capped by a 6-4 home victory as -155 favourites on January 3. The Bruins have also picked up the win in two of their last three visits to Calgary, and limited the Flames to two or fewer goals in five of their past seven meetings.
