Last week I put out a survey so fans could vote on who they thought were the best players to play for the Calgary Flames were.
Not who was the best during their time with the Flames, but rather who were the best players to have played for the organization.
We had 1,026 submissions which is incredible. Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey!
Here are the results!
Here are the players who missed the cut.
Forwards: Sergei Makarov, Todd Bertuzzi, Sean Monahan, Owen Nolan, Nazem Kadri, Marc Savard, Jonathan Huberdeau, Joe Mullen, Elias Lindholm
Defencemen: Dougie Hamilton, Jay Bouwmeester, MacKenzie Weegar, Paul Reinhart, Rasmus Andersson
Goalies: Grant Fuhr, Curtis Joseph, J.S. Giguere, Jacob Markstrom
I don’t think I did a good enough job describing the exercise because there are some questionable numbers. Guys like Jaromir Jagr, Brett Hull, Martin St. Louis, Sergei Makarov, and Grant Fuhr should have collected a much larger percentage of votes. But a lot of people voted based on these players time in Calgary, instead of taking their prime years or entire career into consideration. That’s my bad!
Next week I’ll put out a survey asking to vote on a lineup with the greatest Calgary Flames players of all time based on their time in Calgary which will be more fun for fans to vote on.
